In today’s UPSC landscape, where PSIR has become more conceptual, theoretical, and dynamic than ever before, aspirants need more than recycled notes and formulaic lectures. They need a mentor who combines academic brilliance with strategic insight—someone who can decode Plato, explain Marx, simplify Rawls, and at the same time, train you to write like a civil servant. That’s where Dr. M.V. Duraish Kumar steps in.
Dr. Duraish is a full-time Ph.D. scholar from the University of Madras, where his research on political mobilization of agricultural labourers in Tamil Nadu was widely appreciated for its blend of fieldwork, theory, and original analysis. He holds multiple postgraduate degrees in Political Science, Economics, and Public Administration, and is also a UGC-NET JRF awardee in Political Science. His academic portfolio includes published research papers in reputed national and international journals, and a widely appreciated Tamil-language political theory book titled "அரசியல்: எது? என்ன? ஏன்? எப்படி?" (Politics: Which? What? Why? How?).
But Dr. Duraish is more than a scholar. His life experiences have given him a multi-dimensional edge. Before fully dedicating himself to teaching and research, he served as an Assistant Manager in the State Bank of Travancore, cleared several competitive exams (SBI-Associate, IBPS-PO, RRB), and worked in two corporate firms between 2006 and 2008.
This unique blend of corporate, banking, academic, and mentoring experience enables him to relate theory to real-world governance, administration, and public life—making his teaching deeply practical and exam-relevant.
He has been associated with civil service coaching for over 15 years, specializing in Political Science & International Relations Optional, GS Paper 2, and Ethics (GS Paper 4). Over the years, many of his students have successfully cleared the IAS exam and other competitive examinations across India. His sessions are known for their clarity, intellectual depth, and high strategic value. He has also contributed to curriculum design at the undergraduate level, helping to integrate UPSC standards into academic frameworks.
Importantly, Dr. Duraish has written the UPSC Civil Services Mains multiple times and was also an interview-stage candidate. This firsthand understanding of the exam’s demands, combined with his academic grounding, enables him to mentor aspirants at every level—content, strategy, mindset, and writing.
At a time when the PSIR coaching market is saturated with cut-paste material and superficial teaching, Dr. Duraish offers what the new UPSC era demands—a teacher who is also a researcher, a strategist who is also a philosopher, and a mentor who is deeply committed to shaping not just your rank, but your thinking.
